A Day in the Life of Sue O'Driscoll...

Name: Sue O'Driscoll

Job Title: Contracts Co-ordinator

Service Centre: GB Access, Peterborough

How long have you worked in the industry?
Three years with GB Access and eight years in the construction industry.

What does your job entail?
I am involved in the administration side, dealing with customers over the phone and assisting with all queries from deliveries to technical. I have built up quite a rapport with customers who will only deal with me so I am kept busy with a variety of work.

What is the best thing about working in this industry and GB Access?
The best thing for me is the amount of knowledge I've gained from the industry and how interesting construction hoists are compared to more common construction services such as cement mixing and bricklaying.

Would you recommend a career in our industry and, if so, what advice would you give, especially being in a male dominated industry?
I definitely would recommend the industry as it’s never boring and quite exciting. My advice would be to learn hard (it’s easy), get involved in everything possible, stand your ground and show the men what a good job we women can do.
